My 1st Day At Robin Hood Academy (RHA) as a 'Robin'

What is Robin Hood Academy?

• It is an educational institution initiated by Robin Hood Army (RHA).

• It empowers street children with basic primary education.

• Robins conduct regular weekend classes and excursions with a standardized curriculum to introduce and drive the spirit of learning.

• The purpose of the Academy is to be a bridge between the streets and schools, by giving children the tools and knowledge to go to school.

Vision Of Robin Hood Academy:

• Creating access to education is the purest form of nation building.

• Every child on the street of our cities should have the opportunity to a better life.

Core Values Of Robin Hood Academy:

• Equal Care:
We respect each student's well-being and shall never resort to physical punishment.

• Equal Opportunity:
Each student has the opportunity to learn without discrimination.

My 1st Day Experience:

The day was Saturday (29th October, 2022). One day before, I had a call with Robin Vikash Agrawal (coordinator for my locality). He explained me about the academy in depth and also shared the location. It was 4 KM from my house and the academy timing was 9 A.M. to 11 A.M.

I took my helmet, opened the Google Maps and set for the journey at 8:30 A.M. I reached there 15 minutes before. While waiting for the other Robins, my eyes were also looking for the kids ready to learn something new.

Finally, all of them came. The children wished us Good Morning!!!
I took the responsibility to teach them Mathematics for the day.
Surprisingly, my first student's name was same as me (Raushan). He was a keen learner and also very cooperative.

Other Robins also started to teach different subjects (like English, Science, Gujarati...) by dividing the students in different groups. I was amazed to see the dedication of the little girls and boys who were ready to grab the opportunity.
They just needed the guidance and support from us.

Now the time was 10:30 A.M. And it was the Play Time. All the children along with Robins started playing cricket in the ground just in front of that, marking the cricket stumps on the wall with the help of chalk.

The 'Smiling Faces' enjoying the new way of learning with fun mesmerized my heart. It was really a wonderful experience and Inspired me to do more for the community. Later on, I also joined the team to take the children to Happy Street, Law Garden, Ahmedabad on 13th November, 2022.
